Jakarta - The Indonesian Government and JICA Sign Minutes of Discussion on the Assessment of the MRT East-West Corridor Phase 1 Phase 1 Development Project
The Indonesian government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed minutes of discussion of the assessment (Minutes of Discussion/MoD of Appraisal Mission) of the East–West Corridor (East–West) phase 1 MRT project on Saturday (11-11-2023) at Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta. The signing was carried out directly by the Director General of Railways Risal Wasal, Director of Bilateral Funding of Bappenas Kurniawan Ariadi, Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province Joko Agus Setiono, and Main Director of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Tuhiyat, who represented the Indonesian government, with Chief of Representative Indonesia Office JICA Mr. Yasui Takehiro and witnessed by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Acting (PJ) Governor of Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono, and The Deputy Chief of Mission Embassy of Japan Mr. Nagai Katsuro, at the Ministry of Transportation office, Jakarta.
Furthermore, after signing the MoD, the Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) will immediately complete the administrative details of this project so that the East West MRT development process can begin immediately in 2024.
The MRT Jakarta East-West corridor will stretch 84.1 km from Balaraja, Tangerang to Cikarang, Bekasi. In the process, it will be divided into 4 (four) stages of work, namely Phase 1, Phase 1 (Tomang - Medan Satria, 30.1 km long), Phase 1, Phase 2 (Kembangan - Tomang, 9.2 km long), Phase 2 East (Medan Satria - Cikarang, 20.5 km long) and Phase 2 West (Kembangan Balaraja, 29.9 km long).
MRT Jakarta's East-West corridor will be integrated with the North-South corridor with a meeting point at Thamrin Station which is currently under construction. In the initial stage of development, Phase 1 of the MRT Jakarta East-West corridor will have 21 stations consisting of 8 underground stations and 13 elevated stations. Apart from that, at this stage a depot will also be built in the Rorotan area with an access route 5.9 km long.
