12 Ships Burn at Tegal City Port Today

Tegal, December 27, 2024 – A major fire broke out at the port of Tegal City in the early hours of this morning, Friday (12/27/2024). The incident was reported at around 01.00 WIB, when the fire quickly engulfed several ships that were docked at the port.


Until now, there has been no official information regarding the exact cause of the fire. However, initial reports indicate that the fire spread quickly due to strong winds and the possibility of flammable materials at the scene.

There has been no confirmation of any fatalities or injuries due to this incident. Several eyewitnesses around the port claimed to have heard a small explosion before the fire broke out, but the truth of this information still needs to be verified by the authorities.

The port of Tegal City itself is one of the centers of economic activity in the region, with the main activity being the loading and unloading of marine catches. This fire is expected to have an impact on port activities in the next few weeks.

From the information gathered, the fire is known to have started at around 02.00 WIB, with thick smoke billowing high.


This can be seen in one of the Instagram posts regarding the fire incident.

Dirpolairud Polda Jateng, Kombes Pol Hariadi, confirmed this incident and until now the extinguishing and cooling process is still ongoing.

"There are 12 ships. Currently still in the process of extinguishing," he said briefly when confirmed.

Although he has not been able to determine the cause of the fire, Hariadi said his team is currently focusing on extinguishing and identification.

"Data can change because it is still being identified, and the cause is still being investigated," he explained.


Hariadi added that in the incident there were no fatalities in the incident that burned down dozens of ships.

Further investigation will be carried out after the fire has been completely extinguished.
